SCA Quick Take - LeadingAge Southeast: Elevate- Industry Innovators Event

Our Principal, Cua recently traveled to Florida for the LeadingAge Southeast conference to co-host the Elevate - Industry Innovators event. We sat down with her to ask a few questions about her time there and what she learned from the event as well as her biggest takeaway from being there with everyone - read below for our SCA Quick Take:

Q: What did you enjoy most about the conference?

A:

Cua: The people.  Meeting new folks in the industry, seeing clients in person, it’s just the best.  Just a little tidbit about myself – I was born in Pella, Iowa and spent my childhood there before I moved to NC.  I have a good bit of pride in my hometown and may or may-not be partial to Pella Windows, just sayin’.  I met quite a few fellow Iowans and mid-westerners at our event so it was great to find commonalities to build relationships on.  One’s expertise is built through their life experiences and opportunities so when we have the opportunity to get to know someone, you get to know them beyond their “work” and get to know their character.

Q: Who or what company did you enjoy meeting at the conference and why?

A:

Cua: The folks at HomeCare Advocacy Network, Mark Goetz and Brad Albrecht, who were co-hosts on this event.  We hadn’t met in person before but came together with (4) other companies to co-host a great event.  We had good discussions about what we were experiencing in the senior living industry and opportunities for the senior living community to partner with other types of industries to build better communities.

Q: What’s your biggest takeaway or “ah-ha” moment from the conference?

A:

Cua: We co-hosted an evening event with (6) other companies, all focused on innovation in the senior living industry.  This was a great opportunity to network and help others network as well.  I’m a huge advocate for connecting people, not just for myself or my company, but for all who attend so that we can build new relationships and simply come together and get new perspectives and/or share our perspectives.  So my big ah-ha moment would be getting the opportunity to co-host an event with other like-minded folk and do something out of our norm.
